FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to before you get started with personal training

GETTING STARTED

Q: How do I get started with Chris Reader PT?

A: The first step is a free consultation. We'll discuss your goals, current fitness and training, experience, lifestyle and anything that may affect your training. From there, we can establish what approach is right for you and find suitable training times.

Q: Do I need to be fit before starting personal training?

A: Not at all. Training is tailored to your current ability, whether you're completely new to exercise, returning after a break or already training regularly. The aim is to start at the appropriate level and progress from there.

Q: Do I have to commit to a block of sessions?

A: No. You can pay for individual sessions if you prefer. Blocks of 10 or 20 sessions are available at a reduced rate for those who want to train consistently.

THE TRAINING

Q: How long is a personal training session?

A: Sessions typically last around 45–60 minutes, depending on the programme and what we're working on.

Q: How often should I train?

A: This depends on your goals, training experience, availability and what you're doing outside of your PT sessions. For many people, 1–2 PT sessions per week works well when combined with appropriate independent training and everyday activity.

Q: What type of training do you specialise in?

A: I work across a range of training goals, including strength and conditioning, general fitness, running and endurance performance, HYROX preparation, and long-term health and fitness. Your programme is built around your individual goals, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

Q: Can you help me train for a marathon, triathlon, HYROX or another event?

A: Yes. I provide tailored endurance and performance coaching for runners, cyclists, triathletes and HYROX athletes. Training can include strength and conditioning, running, pacing, fuelling, recovery and preparation for your specific event.

Q: Can I train with a friend or partner?
A: Yes. Partner and small-group training can be arranged where availability allows. Training together can be a great way to stay motivated while making PT more cost-effective.

NUTRITION & LIFESTYLE

Q: Do you provide nutrition advice?
A: Yes. Nutrition is an important part of achieving many fitness and performance goals. I provide practical, evidence-based guidance around nutrition, fuelling, recovery and sustainable habits rather than restrictive diets or quick fixes.

Q: Will you give me a strict meal plan?
A: No. My approach is focused on helping you understand what your body needs and develop sustainable habits that fit your lifestyle. The aim is to create something you can actually maintain long term.

LOCATION & PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Q: Where do you train?
A: Personal training sessions are based at Elite Fit Gym, Skegness. Gym membership is separate from personal training and is payable directly to the gym.

Q: Do I need a gym membership?
A: Yes, because PT sessions take place within the gym. Gym membership is separate from your PT sessions.

Q: Do you offer home-based Pt ?
A: Yes. home-based Pt's are available for clients who have suitable equipment and prefer to train independently tailored around your goals, available equipment and lifestyle.

Q: How do I book a session?
